ONE THING THAT breaks my heart is seeing a 65-year-old wobbling around with rounded shoulders and a hunched back, looking much older than they are. As we age, we often experience changes in posture, including a decrease in height, a hunched spine, and rounded shoulders. These can lead to pain, reduced mobility, and balance problems, causing us to feel and look older, which in turn makes us think we are old. When we think we are old, we’re old.

FACT: Our Posture Speaks Volumes About Our Mental, Physical, Emotional, And Relational Strength.

THE POTTERS, for the most part, have always battled “Hunch Back”. So, if you take my DNA and add 70 years of gravity, I am constantly battling bad posture. The good news is that we can correct our posture. I did!

I STARTED WITH this easy 5-minute Routine about 3 times a week. One big thing I have learned, after 60, is that “To stay where you are, you must move forward.” Just as walking thirty minutes a day is a good starting point for a healthy heart, we will need to take our posture-building to the next level if we plan to maintain good posture for years. Here are some machines at your gym designed to build back strength.

BELOW, YOU CAN SEE a technique I developed using a lower back extension machine that “hurts so good.” I wrap my arms around the back support instead of gripping the handles. Then, using only about 70 lbs, I do three sets of 15 reps. Takes less than 5 minutes. Try it; I think you’ll like it.

ONE THING TO REMEMBER: Correcting posture takes time and effort. And you shouldn’t get discouraged if you experience some pain initially; that’s actually a good sign that your body is adjusting.

SO LET’S STRAIGHTEN UP and enjoy our last best bite!
