I Have To Admit I Am Over The Screaming, Name-Calling, And Biased Reporting of Some News Networks.

As I entered retirement, watching the news became not only one of my primary sources of information but also a source of entertainment. I found myself watching over two hours of news each day. During one of those days, I had a lightbulb moment: I was consuming a lot of useless, harmful, and even prejudicial information. On top of that, it took away time from things that made life better, like exercise, reading, and time with family and friends.
INFORMATION SHOULD MAKE LIFE EASIER AND MORE FUN
As a general rule, people who live better lives are people who stay informed. Having the latest information, especially for those over 60, about health care, finances, entertainment, and, yes, information about all the new scams out there can make our lives easier and a lot more fun.
INFORMATION I NEED. SCREAMING, NAME-CALLING, AND BIASED REPORTING, I DON'T!
I understand that with so many news networks, it takes some sensationalism to stay at the top of the heap. But now, even the (So-called) conservative networks have become nothing more than sessions of arguing, name-calling, biased comments, and even cursing.
CHANGING YOUR NEWS SOURCE COULD CHANGE YOUR LIFE
When I switched from watching the news on TV to reading the news, my time consumption went from two hours (or more) to 10 minutes a couple of times a day, usually during downtime like at the doctor's office or when working out in a gym. Even more importantly, I noticed fewer battles with negative and prejudicial thoughts when I read my news instead of watching it on television.
JUST GIVE ME THE FACTS, I CAN MAKE MY MIND
In this season of my life, I no longer need others to think for me, although Jean may sometimes have doubts about that. Although I am not convinced there is such a thing as an "unbiased" news source, I have found a few (Medi Bias Fact Check) who seem to hold back on their opinions and report just the facts.
NEWS SOURCES WITHOUT THE DRAMA
While I am certain there are more, these are my primary "go-to-quick-read" sources for global, cultural, health, and sports news, as well as those "I didn't know that" articles.
THE POUR OVER is not for everyone, but if you think you would enjoy a summary of the day's biggest news with a politically neutral, Christ-centered perspective, you might just enjoy it.
FARNAM STREET'S "BRAIN FOOD" (Free Weekend Post) is one I tossed in because it is devoted to helping people develop an understanding of how the world really works, make better decisions, and live better lives, which are all big parts of enjoying your "last best bite."
