As the famous philosopher Willie said, we are “On The Road Again”. Since temperatures in Forsyth County, Georgia, often reach the upper 90s—and sometimes soar past 100°F—in July and August, hiking during these months becomes less enjoyable for Jean and me. However, last Friday, with a refreshing 66 degrees in the mountains, was the perfect day to kick off the hiking season in North Georgia. Our adventure led us to both an old favorite watering hole and a brand-new one..
We hiked the 2.4-mile trail to Duke Creek Falls and back. To say it was fun is an understatement. We had the opportunity to meet some pretty special people from Florida, Pennsylvania, and Alabama..
"The Best Burgers In Georgia?"

We discovered a place called Hoochee’s River Basket, where we met Lindsay, the owner. He educated us on why his was "The Best Smash Burgers in Georgia.” While I am not sure about that, I can say it was one of the best burgers I’ve had in a while. It’s definitely worth trying for yourself. Just a side note: the French fries are more reminiscent of my grandmother’s “fried potatoes” than traditional “French fries.” I found that interesting.
Although the burger, atmosphere, and service were an 8 (Only Jesus rates a 10), I think the thing that impressed me the most was the confidence, passion, and boldness exhibited by Lindsay about his burgers being the best. From what I have seen in life, when you believe something is really good, you will be bold in sharing it with your family, friends, and even with people you don’t know.
Savoring this life and that LAST BEST BITE of my smash burger at Hoochee's River Basket.

Great words, I needed this today. I will live a bolder life today. Thanks for sharing.
