A Bunch Of Men Getting Closer To God And Having Fun While Doing It

One of the highlights of my week is having breakfast with a group of guys (mostly over 60 and retired) at the Dawsonville IHOP on Wednesday mornings. We start promptly at 8 AM and wrap up by 9 AM.

As the old Cadillac commercial says, "This is not your father’s monthly pancake breakfast."

What I enjoy most about this group, beyond the camaraderie, is that we have a different speaker each week. They share their life stories and how God has spoken to them through scripture or various circumstances.

Another aspect I appreciate about our group is our "road trips." When the weather was warmer, we went kayaking. This week, after breakfast, we gathered at Bulls Eye Sportsman Gun Club for indoor target shooting. As you can see from the photo, it’s been about 30 years since I practiced with my handguns, but we still had a great time.

Next month, we're planning to do some virtual reality NASCAR driving. I’m a little nervous about that one, as I’ve seen how some of these guys drive!

We need other men who can encourage us and stand with us, just as we should be there for them when times get tough.

Have you ever noticed that when you ask a man, "How are you doing?" the answer is always the same: “It’s all good!” But let’s be honest—it’s not always good. Especially as we get older, we need other men in our lives.

We would enjoy having you join us, and I think you will enjoy it too.
